BACKGROUND
- The measurement of student learning in General Education was assessed in the during the 1980s using standardized tests such as the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) and the Academic Profile (AP).
- Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) was conducted in October 1999.
- The Watson-Glaser Test of Critical Thinking was administered to freshmen and to those completing their core courses.
- The GRE Verbal, Math, and Analytic Ability scores of UTSA graduates were gathered over five years.
- The Core Curriculum Survey administered in 1997 in order to have students rate their own progress in skills they acquired as well as the importance of these.
- The Graduating Student Survey has collected graduates feedback since 1998 as to the levels of specific skills they acquired at UTSA.
- During 2000 and 2001 a random sample of UTSA freshmen and seniors provided feedback as to their academic and intellectual activities and these ratings were compared with means from comparable institutions nationally.
