The ASSET program is a series of short placement tests developed by American College Testing (ACT) that lets you and Isothermal work together to help you succeed in your educational program.

The ASSET takes about three hours and includes brief questionnaire, 25-minute assessments in writing, reading, and math as well as a 20-minute writing sample. ASSET is not a test that you can pass or fail. Your scores will indicate your areas of strength and where you could benefit from some review classes.

The ASSET program is a series of short placement tests developed by American College Testing (ACT) that lets you and Isothermal work together to help you succeed in your educational program. ASSET is designed as a course placement program that indicates areas where you are strong and areas in which you may need help. This gives you the opportunity to prepare more effectively for required courses.
If you have received college credit for math or English courses, you may only need to take part of the assessment. Contact the Academic Advising Department for advice. Advanced registration for ASSET is not necessary and there is no cost for testing. Please allow up to two hours to complete the assessment process. Sample questions and hints for taking the ASSET are available at the Testing & Assessment Center. Abbreviated sample questions are provided on this web site.

ASSET has three tests of basic skills (writing, reading, and numerical skills), plus a more advanced test in algebra. ASSET is part of a One-Stop program that includes testing, orientation, advising, and registration for classes.  Students can schedule a One-Stop session once an Isothermal application is on file with the Admissions Office.  One-Stop sessions will last approximately four hours.
