The HOBET (Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test) is a test designed to measure your ability and compare that to a college level ability. It evaluates your ability in reading, basic mathematics, and studying.

The HOBET test results are required for application to the Radiographic Science Program. The intent of this standardized exam is to assess academic skills and knowledge already learned. The HOBET strives to academically support you by providing diagnostic information about your basic, academic, processing skills.
The HOBET measures an individual's ability in mathematics and science reading comprehension. The HOBET also provides assessment of counseling areas to draw a total picture of the individual. Listed below are the areas identified: Essential Math Skills, Reading Comprehension for Science Textbooks, Reading Rate, Critical Thinking Appraisal, Test-taking Skills, Stress Levels, Social Interaction Profile, Learning Styles and Overall Composite Score.

The HOBET provides an objective measurement of your critical reading ability and compares your ability against the level of mastery required for success in college.  Secondly, the HOBET evaluates your level of success with basic mathematics, the math necessary for you to function, not only in your academic courses, but also in your clinical practice following college.  Thirdly, the HOBET determines your effective speed in reading college level material.  Lastly, the HOBET identifies how you approach study, in general, and identifies which learning approach is most effective for you.

The HOBET will identify your areas of strength and weakness and provide you with important knowledge about your abilities before you begin higher education. Testing time is approximately 2.5 hours and is in a computerized format. This is a timed test. You are allowed so many minutes per section of the test. The computer program will cut you off and advance to the next section if you exceed the time limit. The test is administered through LCSC, or depending upon circumstances, by an appropriate off-site proctor.
